Building a Housing Justice Movement in Colorado Springs, CO

Housing costs are totally out of control in Colorado Springs. Every year, tenants are forced to pay more and more for the same substandard housing, and homeownership remains out of reach for all but the highest income earners.
Meanwhile, our increasingly corporate landlords and housing developers enjoy record profits and our city leaders congratulate themselves for proposed solutions that don’t even make a dent in the problem. We’re told it’s just a question of housing supply and that in time the market will correct itself. But a housing market that prioritizes profit over people is what got us here and there’s no chance in hell it’ll get us out.
No one is coming to save us. Only a mass movement of tenants and low-income homeowners, mobile home residents and the unhoused—anyone unlucky enough to find themselves struggling to afford a place to live in the wealthiest country on earth—can solve this problem.
